Spiritual Resources

In 1993 or 1994 I attended a Lee Coit seminar in which he talked about how to Listen to your Inner Guide. I'm just beginning to be able to Listen fairly frequently. I would highly recommend all of his books. Listening: How to Increase Awareness of Your Inner Guide, Accepting: How to Increase Your Awareness of Perfection and Being: How to Increase Your Awareness of Oneness

Alan Cohen is one of my favorite people in the New Age. I've taken several short seminars with him and have found him to be a very warm, caring human being. A Deep Breath of Life: Daily Inspiration for Heart-Centered Living is a book of daily readings that is a great way to start the day. I've gone through this book several times and still find new things in it. My favorite prayer is from Feb 27 -- "Thank you for everything. I have no complaint whatsoever." The gratitude that I feel when I really mean this prayer is almost overwhelming. And when I don't mean it, it helps me to let go of my complaints. Alan's first book is The Dragon Doesn't Live Here Anymore. Some of his other books are Joy Is My Compass: Taking the Risk to Follow Your Bliss, Dare to Be Yourself, and Healing of the Planet Earth: Personal Power and Planetary Transformation.

In 2002 I got a flyer from Sounds True offering the audio tapes Emotional Genius: How Emotions Can Save Your Life With Study Guide at a discount with a money back guarantee. I had never heard of Karla McLaren before but it sounded interesting and I decided to take a chance on the tapes. Karla's main point is that you shouldn't label emotions as good and bad. All they are is messengers and what's important is how you react to them. This was a concept that was new to me and made a lot of sense. I found her website and discovered that she was giving a week long seminar at Omega Institute. My previous experience at Omega was a rather bad one and I was rather short of money but I decided to attend and that was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Karla and Tino Plank (who assisted at the seminar) are very warm people who were always available. They were there in the cafeteria rather than eating in the faculty dining room. It was great hanging out with them one evening eating ice cream. The seminar was very much a life changing experience. At the start I was feeling quite depressed and was full of joy when it was over. Sadly, Karla has renounced the New Age, become a follower of James Randi, taken her website down, and gone off to study sociology. The internet has a long memory and you can see some old versions of her website.
Karla is back! The Language of Emotions has just been published by Sounds True and she has a new blog. Karla has been a very important part of my spiritual journey and it's really good to see her writing about the emotions again.

In 1992 or 1993 I bought a used copy of The World of Serendipity and was very impressed with it. Among other things, you will learn about apocatastasis.
